In December 2017, grandson Sam and his wife Freya visited Penang and tried to find some of the places that Douglas described in "We Built and Destroyed".

Of particular interest was "21 Burmah Lane" which was Douglas's home for a short time on his arrival on Malaya. The pictures alongside were taken by him, and they survived the journey back home.

After a little searching and a bit of a false start, Sam and Freya made an amazing discovery, as the video below shows.

The pictures below show the house in 2011, before preservation, restoration, and development of nearby blocks.
